Russell Hanson
I am a creative and passionate storyteller with a professional background in video post-production within the marketing industry, as well as experience in wilderness adventure guiding. I’m a hardworking, driven, reliable, confident, collaborative, and organized team member. My versatility allows me to move fluidly between the creative and outdoor industries, always bringing energy and enthusiasm into every opportunity.
By placing myself in unfamiliar situations, I’ve consistently faced adversity and overcome personal challenges. Whether navigating out of the Canadian wilderness using compass bearings and teamwork or stepping into a fast-paced post-production advertising company with no prior industry experience, I take pride in being someone friends and colleagues can rely on—especially when a helping hand is needed most.
In recent years, I moved to Juneau, Alaska, where I became part of a team working alongside Alaska Native tribes in their efforts to reclaim ancestral lands and protect their sovereignty. I’ve had the honor of supporting land-back initiatives and contributing to the development and promotion of Native language resources for children—projects that aim to preserve culture, strengthen identity, and empower future generations.
Everyone has a story to share, and every experience has the potential to connect. My goal is to tell stories that remind people they are not alone in their thoughts, feelings, fears, or emotions.
My work spans several countries and formats, including creative projects in the United States during my undergraduate studies in film, semi-professional fiction work in London, England, and documentary filmmaking as part of my Master’s program in Ontario, Canada.
